MOVIE MONDAYS: GET OVER IT

I am having a bit of a Zoe Saldana phase where I eagerly go looking for movies she's done that I have not yet seen. I decided to go waaaaaay back to her earlier stuff and came across the film: Get Over It

There were tons of hidden gems in this movie! Sisqo, Mila Kunis, Coolio and Carmen Electra. I absolutely loved it. Made back in 2001, Get Over It is a funny, very cheesy and yet very loveable film about heartbreaks, friendship, theatre, self-confidence and a terrible accent that was thrown in for good measure haha.

It was directed by Tommy O'Haver (Ella Enchanted; An American Crime) and written by R. Lee Flemming Jr. (One Tree Hill; The Lying Game). Although it may not be the best artistic movie ever made, it has definitely made its way onto my 'Movie Favourites' list. Just seeing Sisqo again bustin' a move; Zoe Saldana's natural-eque hair; Mila Kunis still as sassy as ever; and Martin Short being completely ridiculous made my day. Ben Foster (The Mechanic; 360; X-Men: The Last Stand) starred as good ol' Bereke Landers, a young awkward teenager who had the chance to have a relationship with his childhood friend, Allison McAllister. Allison, one of the popular girls at their high school, was played by Melissa Sagemiller (Sleeper Cell; Law & Order SVU) and her questionable best friend Maggie was played by Zoe Saldana (Colombiana; Avatar; Star Trekk). Berke's best mates were Felix Woods, who was played by Colin Hanks (Dexter; Roswell High), and Dennis Wallace, who was played by SisqoKirsten Dunst (Spiderman; Mona Lisa Smile; All Good Things) starred as Felix's sister Kelly, an aspiring songwriter and has an affinity for plays. Her best friend was the sassy Basin who was played by Mila Kunis (That 70's Show; Black Swan; Ted). Then, to make things a bit more interesting a new kid came to the school and his role was to make girls swoon with just his voice. His name was Bently a.k.a Striker and Shane West (A Walk To Remember; ER; Nikita) had the pleasure of playing that role. And a movie isn't a movie unless it has at least one silly character to make you laugh- Dr. Oates who was played by Martin Short (A Simple Wish; The Santa Clause 3).

If you are looking for a fun, light-hearted, cheesy film to watch this summer alone/on girls night/on family night, this might be the film to pop in the dvd player.

Till next time!

Luv, Mo
