Edit: I wrote and scheduled this post before the devastating events in Beirut, Paris and other parts of the world. The right words to convey my thoughts about the attacks have not yet found me but my heart and prayers goes out to all those affected by the attacks.

My relationship with novels, books - whatever you want to call them - has been tested to put things mildly. I know I am not the only one who has experienced this phase in their partnership with reading but I think I am done playing hard to get (... for now at least). Read it or Not is a series on this blog where I share with you the written worlds I am currently getting lost in so that maybe, when the time is right for you, you can come join me and the creators of those worlds. Today, I bring you Meg Fee's 'Places I Stopped on the Way Home'.

Now, Places I Stopped on the Way Home is not my definition of a conventional book as it is a collection of personal essays Meg Fee, author of one of my favourite blogs -The Wild and Wily Ways of a Brunette "Bombshell" - but it is a book nonetheless; an ebook if we really want to get specific. And it was released to the general public on my birthday and I thought quite a lovely gift  - so thank you Meg!

In this 59 page book you will find beautifully written stories, heavy laden with a rawness that dares you to be more honest with yourself, that are about Meg and her encounters with romance in New York city in the 10 years she's been there. Each essay gives the reader a glimpse of Meg's voyage towards the woman she is becoming - a woman who is finding her feet and breaking down what home means to her. If you have ever read Meg's blog you will know exactly what to expect. And if you have not? Think of it as a series of enchanting personal letters that are not expectant of praise but rather generous with hope, self-love and frankness... with a dash of lessons-learnt.
