ON THE EDGE: THEATRE || VOL. 01
It seems I do love a good feature on my blog. Granted Movie Mondays is the only one I update regularly (not for long!), I still do love the other ones just as much. Now, let me introduce you to 'On the Edge'. This feature shall contain a little somethin' somethin' about what has me on the edge of my seat in any facet of life that piques my interest. And to kick things off, this week's is going to be on - yep, you guessed it - theatre. Ever since I watched Skylight, my interest in theatre has spiked and the number of productions I play to see in the future have begun to reflect this fact. I would like to share with you two plays I cannot wait to see this month. I am not sure what it is about theatre that has begun to tear my attention away from the usual form of storytelling I have loved all these years but I will let you know as soon as I do.

NATIONAL THEATRE: MEDEA
I plan to catch another NTL screening and this time of the play by Euripides, Medea. I cannot say I have ever heard of this tale before now but, when I caught the trailer of new adaptation of Medea by Ben Power starring Helen McCrory (Skyfall; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; Fantastic Mr. Fox) before I saw Skylight in July, I just knew I had to see it. And yes, I do realise I am a bit late in bringing this to your attention but better late then never... right? If you aren't going to see this particular production but end up being in the position to watch this story being told on the stage in the future and want to know what to expect, check back later and I shall hopefully have a post on what my thoughts on the play are/were.
HOME: ROMEO & JULIET
This is HOME's 2nd site-specific event to give a taster of what Manchester's new purpose-built centre for Arts, Books, Film and Theatre has to offer once it opens next spring. The location for their Romeo & Juliet production will be in the historic Victoria Baths rendering a unique way of watching one of the most popular love stories unfolding before your very eyes as you watch the performance being carried out in 3 swimming pools. I was fortunate enough to attend the Press Launch event for this so keep your peepers peeled for a post on some of the interviews I managed to get. Unfortunately, the show has sold out now so if you didn't manage to grab yourself a ticket I will also have a post on my thoughts on the performance so keep an eye out for that.

I am excited to see what the characters and creators have in store for me. And I cannot wait to share this journey of mine with you as I dip my toes into the world of theatre one play at a time. If you are a regular theatre-goer, please do share some of your all-time favourite productions. And if you don't regularly swing by the odd theatre dotted around where you live, let me know what's stopping you.
