MOVIE MONDAYS: VERONICA MARS

Last week my local AMC cinema finally saw it fit to schedule showings of the new Veronica Mars movie which put a whopping big grin on my face. You may remember me telling you about the release of this film a few months ago and how excited I was to see it. And with how I was feeling last couple weeks it seemed like the perfect way to get me back to my old self. The original plan was to see it on Friday but my liver had other plans. I was to attend the leaving party of one of my colleagues that day after work, have a drink, say my goodbyes and then pop off to the cinema to "find myself" but that is not what happened. One drink turned into a few and the one hour I was to spend there turned into 5 haha. And funnily enough, it was just what I needed; I let my hair down, had a few laughs and was in bed by 10.30 pm.

I am such a party animal, I know ;)

Got up mega early the next day as you do after a night out - I'm not sure my night qualifies as a night out but whatever - and had quite the productive morning and afternoon. My sister swung by for a quick catch up and we made our merry way to the cinema to catch the 7.30pm showing of Veronica Mars. In a nutshell, we really liked it. But we did made a mental note to watch the TV show again in order to truly appreciate the film as things were a bit hazy for us even though they did do a good job of giving us a quick recap of what went down in the 3 seasons of the show. We are both just sticklers for details so we need to know everything haha.

For those of you that do not know, Veronica Mars is a film about the still highly inquisitive and stubborn Veronica Mars, 9 years after we last saw her as a young private-eye, and her unyielding need to find out the truth of whatever complex situation lies in front of her. Directed by the creator of the show - Rob Thomas (Veronica MarsParty DowniZombie), and its screenplay penned by Rob Thomas (CupidVeronica Mars90210) and Diane Ruggeiro (That's LifeVeronica MarsThe Ex List),  this movie is one that the fans of the show will definitely appreciate after wishing the show will be picked up again as well as wanting answers to so many questions for so long.

One of the great aspects about this film is the sea of familiar faces as the cast that worked on the show all those many moons ago reprised their roles - it was brilliant seeing them againKristen Bell (HeroesFrozenHouse of Lies) starred as the feisty Veronica Mars, daughter of Neptune's more reliable private detective Keith Mars who was played by Enrico Colantoni (Just Shoot MeFlashpointPerson of Interest). I am sure you would expect that Jason Dohring (Veronica MarsMoonlightRinger) - who played the trouble magnet Logan Echolls; Percy Dang III (Veronica MarsIn the HiveQ) - who played the ever loyal Wallace Fennel; Tina Majorino (The Deep EndBig LoveGrey's Anatomy) - reprised her role as the lovely  tech wiz Mac; Chris Lowell (Life As We Know ItPrivate PractiseThe Help) - who stepped into the shoes of sweet, sweet Piz; and Francis Capra (Veronica MarsHeroesNCIS) - who played the loveable "thug" Weevil- would grace us with their presence in this film. It was a joy to see them all!! And there were also a few cameo appearances of a few favourite actresses and actors of mine which was such a lovely surprise. I shan't disclose who they are so as not to ruin it for you. Their characters made me giggle.

If you are not sure of what to watch in the cinema and you love a good drama, romance and crime-themed film then Veronica Mars is one to definitely consider. I really, really, really, really enjoyed this film as it brought up so many good memories of watching this show with my family many moons ago and fulfilled my dream to get a snippet of great show whose end came far too soon.

What have you seen in the cinema lately?
