Behind-the-Scenes

Dusting off the Negativity

I came across this statement whilst I was wasting valuable time on Tumblr. But... if we think about it now, it wasn't wasted at all :D:

'Every flower must grow through dirt'

This statement really rang some bells in my head when I read it. So, obviously I had to reblog it lol. This applies to so many things in life as well as life itself. I shall give you a personal example to illustrate.

Over the past couple of months I have been attending various interviews for grad jobs only to be turned away/rejected; had me wondering how I am going to live the independent life I have been groomed to live.
Once, I was told -

'We thought you were unprofessional during your interview because you laughed'.

If you know me well, you know that laughter and me are basically the same thing but, I do know when and when not to laugh. I may have chuckled, that I can believe, but that being a reason for not getting hired made me laugh heartily when I was told. I can't work in a place where I am not allowed to laugh. That would be so sad.

I always ask for feedback from interviews in order for me to truly understand what the company was looking for and where they thought I fell short. For that particular job interview I did not know what to take from that. But I decided to see the positives in the whole job hunting process:

I am beginning to be more comfortable during interviews; My ability to give presentations is definitely refined; I am now able to talk to a bunch of strangers with a bit more ease as I am naturally a shy lil bonnet; and technical interviews are now a breeze! Well... not as scary as the 1st one I ever did  lol :)

Whatever I am to be in the near and distant future, I know this rough patch (dirt) will teach me an invaluable lesson that will shape me to become the great young lady (flower) I am to become. I just have to pray to have a teachable spirit because if I miss the lesson, when the time comes for me to dig into my arsenal for that skill, I'm gonna be diggin' for a while lool.

So, I am choosing not to be too bogged down by this little hiccup in my grand plan and learn to stop comparing myself to others. Also, I am going to continue to strengthen my relationship with God, try and understand where He needs me to be and ask Him to reveal to me what I am meant to learn at every speed bump life throws my way. That way I'm happy, He's happy and I can be the best version of me I can be.

Whatever your situation is- dissertation is going down the toilet; you just broke up with your boy/girl friend; you didn't get the grades you wanted to get into uni; you don't know what you want; you don't like Disney movies (:O) etc- just remember that:

Till next time!
